The Tiny House Project
Housing First!
My Sistah's House (MSH) has played a vital role in providing
transitional housing to individuals who were previously homeless to ultimately transition them to permanent affordable housing. As of 2025, we have successfully developed eleven homes, including one fully accessible for individuals with disabilities. Our goal is to continue this momentum and complete the remaining nine homes while committing to replicating this effort in other southern states with communities similar to Memphis.

"What My Sistah's House Has Planned for 2026"
What’s Ahead for My Sistah’s House in 2026–2027
As the political climate continues to shift and housing instability rises across the South, My Sistah’s House is entering 2026 and 2027 with a deeper commitment to building safety, stability, and long-term opportunity for transgender and queer people in Memphis and beyond.
The organization continues to focus on housing, advocacy, community wellness, and economic empowerment for Black and Brown TLGBQ people facing systemic barriers. After successfully developing more than ten tiny homes and transitional housing units, MSH plans to continue expanding affordable housing opportunities through the Tiny House Project and additional community-based development efforts. The organization is actively working toward completing more units while exploring larger-scale affordable housing models that combine residential and commercial space.
In 2026 and 2027, MSH aims to:
- Expand permanent and transitional housing opportunities
- Increase accessibility-focused units for residents with disabilities
- Strengthen pathways from temporary housing into long-term independent living
- Continue investing in community-led development in historically underserved Memphis neighborhoods
- Develop mixed-use spaces that combine housing, organizing, and economic opportunity
The organization’s housing-first approach recognizes that stable housing is directly connected to health, safety, employment, and overall quality of life.
